The rapid digital transformation has had a significant impact on the education ecosystem. As the spearheads of the learning process, teachers are required to not only master technology, but also understand the ethical principles inherent in its use. In this context, an understanding of digital citizenship and digital ethics is essential to ensure that learning takes place safely, responsibly and with integrity.

Today’s students interact intensively with the internet, social media, artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital devices. Teachers must therefore be able to provide appropriate guidance and support regarding data security, privacy protection, digital footprint management, and ethical communication and interaction in the digital space. Furthermore, teachers must be able to anticipate and address common issues in the digital environment, such as cyberbullying, plagiarism, misuse of technology, and ethical use of social media.

As the demand for 21st-century skills grows, it is also crucial for teachers to master the basics of coding and robotics in order to support innovative learning that develops future competencies. Integrating these technical skills with digital ethical values is expected to enrich the learning process and help students to become competent, creative and responsible technology users.

The “Digital Citizenship & Digital Ethics Values – Building Character & Digital Social Skills” training course will strengthen teachers’ competencies both conceptually and practically. The training is designed to provide teachers with a comprehensive understanding of digital skills, digital ethics and the application of coding and robotics in learning. Teachers will therefore be expected to develop integrated, relevant lesson plans that align with technological developments and the ethical values that accompany them.

The objectives of this training are as follows:

  • To provide teachers with a deep understanding of the concept of digital citizenship and how it can be applied in schools.
  • To enhance teachers’ proficiency in digital ethics, including data security, privacy, digital footprints, and the ethical use of AI.
  • The training will also strengthen teachers’ ability to identify and address digital issues such as cyberbullying, plagiarism, misuse of technology, and social media ethics.
  • The training will introduce the basics of coding and robotics as 21st-century learning skills.
  • The training will also help teachers to design lesson plans that integrate coding, robotics, and digital ethics in practical ways.

This training is expected to strengthen teachers’ capacity to overcome the challenges of education in the digital age. By enhancing teachers’ skills in digital ethics and citizenship and their proficiency in technologies such as coding and robotics, educational institutions will be better equipped to foster safe, innovative and character-building learning environments.
